Wix.com, the Pros & Cons

Allshouse Designs • March 24, 2017

Wix is one of the most commonly used web design platforms out there. It’s not the only one, of course, but is it the right one for you? To answer that question, you will need to learn a bit more about the platform, as well as its pros and cons. Read on to find out about that kind of thing.

What Makes Wix Unique

Among the other platforms that are its competitors, it would be safe to say that Wix is the most unique and innovative. It does things differently. For example, new tools are constantly being added to the platform for users to make use of. Their designs are usually among the best and most up to date that you can find as well. Now it’s time to look at the other main pros and cons of the website.

The Pros

Business customization is one of the main things that is emphasized by Wix. This means that you can choose a template dependent on what kind of business you run. So, if you run a restaurant or a gym or a manufacturing company, you can be provided with a website template that suits your specific needs. It’s good that they do this, and it should be taken advantage of anyone who uses the platform to create their new website. There are no other platforms that offer this service to this standard.

There are three more things that are important to touch on: speed, security and support. Those three things are all offered in abundance when you use Wix to create your website. They are known for creating websites that are fast and can be accessed by users in a satisfactory way. No one will be left waiting for pages to load slowly. And you also get top security features and the help and support you might need to keep your website functional and in good working order.

The Cons

There are some cons to be aware of before you decide to dive in and use Wix’s website building platform, though. For a start, technical SEO concerns might hit your website if you use Wix. Because of the AJAX technology used by Wix, the bots that are used by Google have a problem crawling their websites. This can result in lost SEO potential, meaning the search engine ranking of your website could fall through no fault of your own. It’s something that you should definitely be aware of.

Pricing is another issue that might take you by surprise when you’re using Wix. It’s not exactly the cheapest platform in the world, and that can mean that you will spend more money than you would if chose to opt with one of their competitors. Finally, think about the apps and extensions that are on offer. Some people consider them to be inadequate with in-demand features being missing from the options available. It might not be a big issue for every website, but it might be for some. Be aware of what’s available before making your final decision.
